And all these buttons and whatnot. I don't even understand what's what!! Und ich hab' da so'n komischen Tempomat mit drinne, wo man die Geschwindigkeit einstellen kann und dann hält der die. Juchu, ich bin schon wieder am Updates laden. Ich will jetzt gar net wissen, wie lange unsere scheiß Verbindung dann insgesamt für das eine Update mit lumpigen 450 MB gebraucht hat! Das ist ja grausam. Und wenn die unten sind, kommen nochmal weiß der Teufel wieviele MBs dran. o.O
Wenn die für Asylum Europe tatsächlich dieses Hotel da in der Nähe von Köln nehmen, is' dat natürlich net so cool, wie wenn sie in FFM 'nen Hotel gefunden hätten. Man stelle sich vor, man hätte mit'm Auto hinfahren können. Vielleicht nur einen Tag, wenn eh niemand interessantes kommt. Da hoch nach Köln fahr' ich net mit'm Auto. Hab' ich zwar auch schon gemacht. Mag dafür Autofahren aber einfach net genung!
Das Hotel sieht mir so abseits im Grünen aus wie das Ding in Bad Salzzuckerpfeffer! Da fährt man sicher auch 3 Stunden+ mit'm Zug hin. o.O Naja, vielleicht nehmen sie noch ein anderes. Blah, wie uninteressant! o.O |

I'm gonna do this rant in German because I seriously can't be arsed right now! :o(
Gottverfuckter Kugelblitz!!! Mit dem alten Mac hat alles so schön gefunzt!! Erst einmal ist der neue Mac im Vergleich zum alten doch net so pretty wie ich dachte. Der schwarze Rahmen ist zum Kotzen und die Maus ist so gottbeschissen wie eh und je. Die neue extrem flache Tastatur is' irgendwie cool, aber irgendwie auch scheiße zu flach. Die müssen wir woanders draufstellen. Der Computer-Tisch hat da vorne auf der Schiene, wo die Tastatur drauf steht, so 'ne scheiß störende Erhöhung, die bei der flachen Tastatur echt, yo, scheiße halt ist. Der Bildschirm ist definitiv way too fucking big...und wir haben noch den kleinsten! Der Sound ist halt ganz gut. Whatever.
Der wirklich schlimme ist...FEHLER...der may or may not behoben werden kann durch alle möglichen Updates, die insgesamt 1 Trillion GB groß sind!! Da darf ich dann morgen abend auch noch hübsch dran laden! Und dann ist der Fehler entweder behoben...oder auch net...klasse! Und was dann auch noch passieren kann ist, dass nach dem Update für's Betriebssystem die ganzen alten Programme samt Drucker sagen "nö, jetzt sind wir zu alt dafür". ICH BIN COMPUTER-DEPP, verdammt, und mir bricht ohnehin grad der Angstschweiß aus!!
Und scheiß Dorf-DSL!! 2000er-Verbindung, das ich nicht lache!! Sind grade mal an die 500!!!! Die ham uns immer noch net mehr Saft gegeben! Kein Wunder, dass ich hier Jahre auch Downloads warte. Hey, das eine Update braucht noch 5 Stunden! Das brech' ich eh noch irgendwann ab und mach' morgen weiter. Ich lass' das Ding jetzt net über Nacht laufen.
Ach ja, oh joy, das WLan auf meinem Laptop funzt überhaupt nimmer richtig, nur so ab und zu mal, trotz Ausprobierens verschiedener Frequenzen and whatnot. SCHEIßE!!! *HEUL*
Fazit: Vor dem Kugelblitz war alles besser!! Ich will den alten Mac und ein funzendes WLan wieder!!!
Ich will gar net wissen, wie riesig der 24-Zoll Bildschirm ist. Der 20er ist ja schon...das brauch' man überhaupt net...yo, für's Filme gucken vielleicht. Der alte war 17 und das hat dicke gereicht!
Ja ja ja, man kann hier sicher ganz viel dolle Dinger mit machen, aber ich Computer-Depp kann das eh net! o.O Die Desktop-Oberfläche oder eher gesagt die Symbole, die Ordner und so, sehen auch blöder aus als vorher.

For lack of another fandom that could offer the possibility of satisfaction right now, I've once again gone back to the Supernatural fandom and this time, I am very intent on not only dwelling on the RPS side of the fandom, but also try my luck with wincest again.
Despite general popularity, I'm still not exactly happy with season 4 and whenever I think back of season 2, my personal favourite, season 4 does not seem to stand comparison. I miss the love. I miss the goddamned love that made it so special! Perhaps it's become too subtle for me or I didn't really care to see it anymore since I'd left the fandom, but I miss this love!

One thing that has always amazed me about Supernatural is that it doesn't really matter all that much whether you read slash or gen. Of course you won't get the sex if it's gen, but the love is always the same in its intensity and it always feels absolute and exclusive (and probably a bit unhealthy but let's just blame this on the circumstances, shall we?).

I've finished watching the anime yesterday night but have no further thoughts on its "gender politics" to offer that'd really go beyond what I've already said in my last entry. The last couple of episodes focus on the French Revolution to a great deal anyway, so there isn't much new input where the upholding of traditional gender roles is concerned.
Anyway, even though I of course knew how Rose of Versailles ends, I was basically bawling my eyes out all through the final 3 episodes. Christ, this hurt! No wonder I usually stay the fuck away from deathfic. :o( [This is not really a spoiler, now is it? The anime's about one year older than I am and the manga's almost 10 years my senior, so to speak, so a spoiler cut would be a bit...well...] |

I’m up to episode 32 and as I said in my last entry about the anime I’m still not sure how to feel about the “gender politics”, let’s call it. On the surface, it looks gloriously gender-bending but when you take a closer look at it, underneath, heteronormativity respectively heteronormative gender roles seem to be intact. And what strikes me as especially odd and makes me sad is that you unfortunately doesn’t even get the impression that the underlying acceptance of heteronormative gender roles and Oscar’s struggles because of it, is character-based, let’s say; that the characters are just children of their time and age who “don’t know better”, i.e. who can’t even imagine otherwise. No, it’s like “authorial intent”; part of the “worldview” that was deliberately incorporated into the story upon creation as opposed to something that necessarily originates from the fictional setting or fictional society of the story.
What’s more, even though there’s a whole lot of homoerotic subtext in the anime, any notion of “real” homosexuality is rejected explicitly, apparently in the manga, which I don’t know, even more so than in the anime, and the way it comes across you get the feeling that on several occasions the anime(/manga) is really intent on hammering the point home that this kind of feelings cannot even exist between members of the same sex. Well, see the first paragraph above.
It’s really frustrating and depressing that you’d have such a fascinating character with so much potential and so many possibilities but, deep down, wouldn’t really question or try to shake up heteronormative rules and standards.
Don’t get me wrong, the mere existence of someone like Oscar in an 18th century setting is a form of (gender) transgression, and it’s fucking beautiful, but the way it comes across, the blame for all the struggle and the pain, the heartache specifically, that seemingly derives from this transgression is not placed on the (patriarchal) society the character lives in, we all live in, but rather, the transgression itself is shown as the source for all this confusion and hurt.
I’ll have to watch the remaining 8 episodes to come to a final conclusion. But as much as I love the anime, the complete erasure of even the possibility of same-sex romantic/sexual feelings never sits well with me at all; is, in fact, an unforgivable offence.
Regarding the acceptance of traditional gender roles, I might be willing to take certain moments in the anime into consideration and conclude that it’s not as bad as it could be but BY FAR not good enough to be considered progressive in its representation of gender and acceptable roles/behaviour for each gender (gender binary is not challenged either, of course).
It is what it is, though it could have been much, much more.
P.S. And I notice that I haven’t really given one single solitary example to illustrate anything I said above. o.O Might be because I wasn’t really keen on talking about the anime’s(/manga’s/mangaka’s) “gender politics” but kinda ended up doing so regardless but still didn’t want to get too much into the subject matter at hand. o.O *sighs* |

I can’t say that I’ve really been following the latest debate about warnings because thank goodness, despite this debate almost making you believe the opposite to be true, most stories I’ve been interested in reading so far did come with warnings, so a whole lot of authors do use warnings for their fics after all.
I’m privileged in that I do not have any triggers and the things I want to be given a warning of beforehand, basically rape/”non-con”/”dub-con”/etc and character death, do not squick me, I just don’t want to read these types of stories most of the time.
Believe me, I am pretty much used to skimming stories before I start reading them anyway and I always check out the ending, so depending on the length of the story I’ll probably know all the kinks and squicks and “want’s” and “do not want’s” awaiting me in any case.
But basically, I IMMENSELY APPRECIATE any information the author gives me about their story beforehand because it makes choosing the stories I want to read so much easier and a lot less time consuming.
BUT what I COMPLETELY FAIL to understand in the current debate is an author’s total refusal to warn at all.
Of course, no one is obligated to warn, but wasn’t it seperis that said IT WAS EASY TO WARN!!?
And I think it was airgiodslv who talked about what it means to be a community, a safe space, as everyone seems to be so fond of calling fandom. (Well, let’s not get overly idealistic!)
It’s such a small thing to ask for…It’s such a small favour to ask for…
If a rape survivor basically asks you to help them not to get hurt (by your story), why would you refuse to help them if helping them doesn’t even require much effort on your part at all??? |

I’ve only watched the first 17 episodes yet but I’m right in the middle of this whole Rosalie sets out to avenge her mother storyline and even though I KNOW that Oscar/André is PURE EPIC EVERLASTING LOVE, you cannot hold it against me that Rosalie’s crush on Oscar fills my foolish little fangirly heart with SO MUCH GLEE!!!!!!!!!!! *SQUEE* ^^ *sighs* I know it won’t last…and heterosexuality will win in the end for everybody involved…but the (sub)text is very sweet as long as it lasts regardless…
Not having seen the anime since my early teenage years though, I can’t say much about the anime’s(/manga’s) “gender politics”, let’s call it, yet. ETA: I'm not sure yet what to think exactly. |

First off, I wanted to link to cereta’s On rape and men because as of right now there are 3721 comments, so apparently a whole lot of people have to say something on the subject.
I’ve got ramblings about rape lined up in my head myself, though they don’t deal with the same subject matter as the discussion I linked to above. I don’t know whether I’ll be in the mood to try to write them down anytime soon. Though, sooner or later, I probably will because it’s not as if I had so many new and ground-breaking ideas that I’d forget “old ones” in favour of “new ones” in the blink of an eye.

Other than that, there have been sitting ramblings of a different, if not new, nature on my comp for a while now that I wanted to finally post. The following was typed up, like, two weeks ago; though don’t let the reference to “Monday” confuse you.

I've had feminist type ramblings running through my head since Monday, nothing that I wouldn't have mentioned before though, mind you. Depending on how long you've had me "friended" on LJ you'll have noticed that I tend to repeat myself repeatedly, if perhaps not exactly where feminist issues are concerned.
Anyway, it's about calling men or their behaviour, etc "girly" or "gay" respectively "unmanly" again. I don't think I'm in the mood for any longer ramblings, so I'm trying to cut myself short here.

OMG, I totally forgot to tell ya about unexpected occurrences of the fannish variety happening at work!!!
First off, our secretary has a copy of Desiderata pinned to the wall in her office just like RAY DOYLE who, admittedly, had his copy in his apartment and I don’t quite remember anymore whether he had it framed on the wall or framed on top of a dresser.

SECONDLY, yesterday was one of my colleagues’ birthday and we gave him two books one of which was about Sir John Franklin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn’t know what books my colleague had bought, so I didn’t know what they were about!! Oh my God, I’m telling ya, I was on the verge of TOTAL FANGIRL SQUEE MODE!!!! I went like “OH MY GOD, FRANKLIN!! THE NORTHWEST PASSAGE!! THE NORTHWEST TERRITORIES!! CANADA!! OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!! ^_____^”
And when my colleagues were looking rather strangely at me, I was like “due South???? One of my favourite TV shows???? Anyone?????? No???????” They didn’t know due South!!!!!!!!! Not even when I told them the German title!! o.O
And I was like “SQUEE!!!!” and they were like “HUH??????? o.O”
They surely thought I was a bit mad there for a minute what with grinning like a total loon and all. OMG!!!!!!!! *g* |

MY JENSEN & MISHA PHOTOS ARRIVED TODAY!!!!!!!!!! ^______^
I wonder though why neither of the boys smiles in my pics. Jensen, Jared and Misha they all just look into the camera, rather straight-faced, and Jensen looks really tired at that and I was among the first who got their photo at the day. Oh well, I wouldn’t like having my picture taken with so many people either.
Admittedly, I liked the photos from Asylum 2007 more, not my photo with Jensen in particular, hell no. It’s just that in 2007 they used another zoom option or however you could say that, like, the pictures look like the photographer was farer away. The photos don’t look as cut off at the bottom as this year’s. Plus, in 2007 Jensen wasn’t sitting on a chair. Though I do understand the no touching rule and why sitting down prevents everybody and their pink pony to demand a hug from you.
Perhaps I’ll post the pics but certainly won’t show you my face. In photos I always look even worse than in RL. :o(
